EMPLOYMENT & ACTIVITIES
2015 - to date Professor HES at Haute Ecole Arc and head of R&D group “Surface Engineering”. Coordination of the group R&D activities. R&D project coordination. Teaching activities: courses in Chemistry and Surface treatment technologies (Bachelor and Master levels).
2010 - 2015  Professor HES at Haute Ecole Arc and head of the Institute of Applied Microtechnology. Coordination of the Institute’s R&D activities. R&D project coordination. Teaching activities: courses in Chemistry and Surface treatment technologies (Bachelor and Master levels).
2008 - 2010 Senior researcher and lecturer at Haute Ecole Arc. Lead of R&D projects related to development of PVD functional coatings. Lectures in Chemistry and Surface treatment technologies. Follow-up of services provided for industry.
2007 - 2008  Scientific consultant at Centredoc SA. Technology monitoring & patent search
2005 - 2007 Senior research fellow at Haute Ecole Arc. Management and scientific follow-up of R&D projects related to PVD functional coatings.

1999 - 2002 Post-doctoral research fellow at EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of  Lausanne). Projects related to optical (TiO2) and tribological (CrN, CrAlN) PVD coatings.
1998-1999 Internship at PX Group, La Chaux-de-Fonds (CH). R&D project related to study of tarnishing process of white 18 ct gold alloys.
 
EDUCATION
1994-1999 Ph.D in Inorganic Chemistry from National University of Lviv (Ukraine). “Study of ternary diagrams Sc-(La, Pr, Nd) –Si, crystal structure and physical properties of intermetallic compounds”
1989-1999 Student in Chemistry Department at National University of Lviv (Ukraine). Diploma in Chemistry.

EXPERTISE
- Coating process optimization. Deposition of thin films (metal nitrides, oxides, oxynitrides) fabricated by magnetron sputtering (PVD) and atomic layer deposition (ALD)
- Functional coatings (decorative, tribological and corrosion protective coatings). Properties and applications.
- Micro-arc oxidation of Ti-, Al- and Mg-based alloys. Biodegradable implants.
- Surface and coating analysis: Spectroscopic ellipsometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, adhesion measurement test, tribology.
- Teaching       Lectures in General Chemistry, Surface treatment technology and surface analysis (Bachelor and Master level)
